This is the family that we visited that had just lost the father. Many relatives were there. They have games of chance and the proceeds are split with the family to pay for the funeral. The father lay inside the house for visitors to view for a week or so. All emotion seems to be held for the funeral. I am told at that time there is much weeping and fainting. The reaction you are seeing on the People faces is due to the fact that they can see their own faces as I am using the front facing camera in my iPhone.

An amazing day

We had a pretty amazing day today. We started where we left off yesterday and continued to dig out the new fish pond. We dug until 3 pm. At that point the hole was about 12x12x 3.5 foot deep. The son was hot and we were drenched with sweat but that was not the end of the day. We put on fresh shirts and headed down to the beach area. The beach hear is surrounded by awarded shacks. We went to visit kids and invite them to the weekend services. We came accrues a family that had just lost their father and they wanted us to come pray for them. We went to the little house and in the room was the father in an open casket. Robby was in the room but I was outside because if the small space. Paster Darrell pray for the family of eleven children and their widowed mother. It was a very emotional moment. I will have to let Robby tell about it more fully as he was in the room. We left there and went to a lage cemetery to visit some family circus children that live amongst the graves. I will yell more about this in another entry as it was in if the most surreal things I have ever scene. We finished the day at a small BBQ place for dinner. It was an amazing day.

DD is a bone collector. He reconstructs the skeletons and is going to have a museum on site that should help raise revenue for the ministry. His collection includes a dolphin, a sperm whale, the monkey pictured here as well as many others. He has become a local celebrity for his preservation efforts.

Yesterday was great day. We started with sharing time with DD and his wife Gai Gai. Their story is inspiration and amazing. From there we went to dig a fish pond, plant garden beds and several tasks to make planting beds. Everyone one of the team worked hard. We were tired but happy with our efforts. We all have the sense of purpose that comes when you know that you work for a place that God has raised up and blessed. DD and wife Gai Gai have been the most gracious hosts one could hope for. During our visit with them in the morning I was able to hold their little newborn baby. This was food for my soul and in combination with them relating their story made for an intenslly emotional time for me as well as the rest of the team. We are all filled with joy and look forward to continuing the work in the garden today as we know that this will help to food in the mouths hungry children in the near future. I do thank God I am here.

This is the street scene where we ate with DD from The Family Circus. The drinks are not beer but are their equivalent to red bull.
